Special Trips

Aside from the regular sportfishing Charters that are offered, here are some specialized trips that are also available:

Snorkeling trips: 6 hours= $200, up to 4 passengers
Would you like to go out on your own private snorkeling tour? With your own tried and true equipment, let me take you to the reefs so you can take your time viewing the magic of one of the most biologically diverse places on the planet! No large crowds to compete with or time limit on a particular reef before you have to up and move to the next one. With me, you set the pace. No disappointment to find the reef you were scheduled to visit has poor visibility. With me, we move until we find clear water. When you book a trip with me, you get the most for your money and time IN the water! (Mask, fins and snorkel are NOT provided, weight belts are not permitted. See FAQ for details)
nature observation and historical tours: 6 HOURS= $110
Are you not really interested too much in fishing, but would rather enjoy a day on the water and learn about the local lore? Would you like to visit the uninhabited northern Florida Keys and see what a sub-tropical island hardwood forest looks like? Or, visit some old ruins of South Florida pioneers who made a living on these islands, and learn how they lived? Then this is a trip you would be interested in. I am a State of Florida certified history teacher that has extensive knowledge of local history. We will cruise around as I give you a background on the area from pre-Columbian times until present. We will then relax along the waterside on one of the numerous islands available, eat lunch, and do some hiking on the trails that wind through the forests. The day will end with a boat ride back to the docks into a beautiful South Florida sunset. (Trip only available November through April.)
Mahi / dolphin Tournaments
Have you ever wanted to fish a Dolphin tournament, but found it to be too costly to run your boat and pay for the entrance fee? Have you wanted to enter a tournament, but felt you didn't have the skill necessary to be competitive? Well, book a tournament with me and gain that advantage at an affordable price!
The cost breakdown is simple:
- Pay the entrance fee to the tournament organizers.
- Pay a bait and fuel surcharge to me.
- If we win, you take the trophy and we split the earnings!
That's right, I only get paid if we win some money! What's the catch you say? There is none, other than the winning fish you will be catching with me. I will attend the Captain's meeting for you and guide you through the tournament entrance process. Or, you can forward me the money and I will enter us for you.
So you own your own boat and fuel prices are not a problem, but you want that competitive edge? I'll bring the tackle and run your boat for you. If we win I will only take a third of the purse, you take the rest! Simply pay the entrance fee, and reimburse me for the bait I buy.
So let's make a team! What a great way to EARN money doing something you love! You will not find a better deal for a tournament experienced Captain to help lead you to victory!
Trolling for Marlin: Full day= $305
Have you always wanted to catch a Marlin here in South Florida? Are you unwilling to pay the cost of fuel it takes to put in the time to troll for them? Or, are you not to sure of how to raise Marlin and want to learn how? Though Marlin are not here in abundant numbers like they are in other parts of the world, they are certainly here, and I know how to target them! With my specialized techniques, I can give you a chance to hook into the fish of a lifetime ("no hook up, no pay" policy does not apply).
Antique tackle fishing: Same price as regular charter

This is a one of a kind experience that, to my knowledge, is offered nowhere else! This type of fishing is a great test of angling skill. Would you like to experience the challenge of fishing with tackle from another time period? Imagine using gear that limits your casting ability, or getting a fish to strike when your line is highly visible, or fighting a fish where the only drag is your thumb. Cane poles, dragless reels, and fiberglass rods: this is how it was done for many years while the sport of angling was first evolving. All rods, reels and line are vintage to give you an authentic experience. Real antique lures are not used due to their costly nature, replicas are used instead. ("No fish no pay" policy does not apply on any trip where vintage tackle is used.)

As a State of Florida certified teacher I have the teaching techniques that will ensure that you become proficient in the art of angling in a single trip! Want your family to learn, but don't have the patience to teach them? Hire me to give them the proper instruction in a non-threatening, friendly, and encouraging atmosphere. (No children under the age of 8 please, children must be accompanied by adult. 2 children plus 1 adult permitted.)
